What is individual therapy?
Individual therapy offers unique opportunity for an individual to speak to a licensed mental health professional to understand his/her psychological world and its interactions with the outside world. It offers opportunities to comprehend one’s own thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
How does a therapy session look like and what usually happens in a session?
A usual therapy session would involve speaking to the therapist where a safe space is created, unconditional positive regard is offered, therapist makes conscious attempts to offer empathetic understanding and non-judgmental atmosphere to the client. Both therapist and individual client works together to create insights about his/her current situations and look for better ways on how to best address life dilemmas. Variety of strategies are discussed based on individual needs of clients to help them function better in life.
